FUNKY NAMES FOR SYSTEM PERTURBATIONS

Mixed Media Installation – 2023/25
presented at Fragmenta la obsolescencia. La rebelión de la basura
Centro Cultural Parque d’España – Rosario, Argentina
curated by Clarisa Appendino

This project reflects on waste and the disposal of objects, exploring their profound political and cultural implications. It emerges as an evolution of previous work that addressed the impossibility of mapping the vast oceanic garbage patches.
In this new chapter, the focus is specifically on waste management systems, the human labor involved in them, and the material impact of the artistic creation itself.

The project highlights how objects, once discarded, begin a journey of transformation through different hands and territories, until they become integrated into new landscapes created by human beings. In particular, the drawings that form part of the work not only focus on the objects, but also center their attention on the movements, poses, and gestures of the hands during the act of collecting, highlighting this gesture as a central and distinctive element of the exhibition.
